Situation In Kurdish Town of Cizre, After Army Operations – Turkey

Turkish authorities on Wednesday scaled down a 24-hour curfew imposed on the mainly Kurdish town of Cizre in southeast Turkey, nearly three weeks after declaring the successful conclusion of military operations there. During the curfew of several months in Cizre, some people stayed ready(in position) in the neighborhood of blow worse as On, Cudi and Nur, whereas others ran away. Armored vehicles roamed the town, of some 132,000 people near the borders of Syria and Iraq. The army says more than 600 Kurdish rebels were killed in Cizre. Advocacy groups, meanwhile,expressed concern again over the high number of civilian casualties amid the government operation. Ozturk Turkdogan, who heads the Ankara-based Human Rights Association, said an additional 171 bodies had been retrieved from three basements in Cizre since Turkey declared the battle over. In three separate basements in the Cudi neighborhood of Cizre, dozens of the wounded have so far been burned to death or killed by explosives used by state forces. 40 dead bodies were retrieved from the basements February12, by ambulances of Cizre Municipality. 20 of them were sent to Antep (city of Turkey), 10 of them were sent to Mardin and the rest were sent to Silopi, Sirnak province.
